This engaging, hands on program introduces 5th graders to economic concepts, workplace skills, and personal and business finances in a simulated city built for young students.
JA BizTown Inspiring Career Paths Fueling Fascination Empowering Their Future
Every 5th grade student participates in a series of classroom lessons, where they learn about applying for jobs, voting, career opportunities, customer service, paychecks, savings and more. Then, they put their knowledge to work at JA BizTown, where they operate a simulated economy and run businesses. Students get hands-on experience at being citizens, consumers, employees and business owners.
Each year, more than 21,000 fifth grade students in Broward and South Palm Beach Counties visit Junior Achievement of South Florida’s JA BizTown. JA World Huizenga Center at the Lillian S. Wells Pavilion houses two identical JA BizTowns. Both the Dave and Lorraine Thomas JA BizTown and Falcone Family JA BizTown have 18 public and private storefronts, all sponsored by real local businesses, that help brings the town to life for the students.
This real-life simulation prepares our youth for tomorrow’s careers by learning essential skills that will make them more successful as professionals and members of the community. These include active listening, applying information, brainstorming, collaboration, cooperation, creativity, critical thinking, following directions, problem-solving, showing responsibility and various soft skills (customer service, punctuality, and dressing professionally).

Want to help our students? Volunteer at JA BizTown or donate to Junior Achievement of South Florida. You can sponsor a class or school as they visit to participate in JA BizTown, or volunteer as an individual or with a team.

Each session is from 3:00-3:40 pm with an optional 20 minute Q&A Session at the end.
A video option will be available on the website after the September 7th training.
