Reimagining Education. One Volunteer at a Time.

At Junior Achievement of South Florida, we believe students deserve more than lessons about the future. They deserve experiences that help them see what’s possible.

As a volunteer, you help bring learning to life by sharing real-world insight, encouraging confidence, and helping students connect classroom learning to future careers. Your time can help shape the next generation of leaders, innovators, and professionals.

Designed for 5th grade students, teachers implement this 16-week curriculum in the classroom. Upon completion of the classroom lessons, students visit JA World for a one-day simulation where they learn how to run a business, apply personal finance education and work in a student business team led by volunteers.

Volunteer Times: Monday through Friday a 5-hour window (1 hour training followed by 4 hours with the students) between 8 am- 3 pm. It varies depending on the school hours.

Designed for 8th grade students; teachers implement curriculum in the classroom before the one-day visit. During their time at JA World, students use tablet technology to manage a fictional life situation including calculating a monthly budget and making real world financial decisions.

Career Bound students build work-ready skills, gain knowledge of local industries and offer businesses a fresh perspective on problems they need to solve.

Volunteers can assist with teaching JA curriculum, sharing your stories and pathways to success, conduct mock interviews, host an industry day or hire one of our summer interns for a period of 4 weeks.

Timeframe: 2024-2025 School Year

Up to 6,000 11-12th grade students in South Palm Beach County will participate in the JA Career Exploration Fair® from September 2024 to March 2025 through their participating school programs.

JA Career Exploration Fair® is an event where students learn about a range of career options across multiple career clusters. Volunteers share information about their businesses and/or jobs and students ask questions as they rotate from station to station. Exhibits at the JA Career Exploration Fair® will include career stations with mentors who will share their career advice and engage students with equipment, technology and the opportunity to “step into the shoes” of employees.

JA Fellows Business Incubator is the “Go To” learn-by-doing entrepreneurial and business experience for middle and high school students. Students gain real-world business experience by working in groups of 20-25, conceptualizing, capitalizing, and managing their own small businesses. Mentors guide JA Fellows students through the program from start to finish, the JA Spark Tank Finale in April.

High school students compete against each other in teams in a simulated stock market environment that is hectic, loud, exciting and filled with energy. Student teams make initial stock selections from more than 25 fictitious companies before the challenge begins. During the two-hour challenge students must complete trading decisions (buying and selling). Two student sessions are completed each day and volunteer opportunities include floor traders, emcees, and guest speakers sharing their expertise in this area.
